The Reserve Bank of India has recently announced that it will soon issue a Rs. 20 note with the signature of newly appointed governor Urjit Patel. The designe of the currency note will be almost same with few minor changes. The reverse of the note will have one change — the year of printing will be “2016”.
Reserve Bank said that the insat letter “R” will be on the both number panels and the year of printing “2016” will be on the reverse of the banknote.
“The numeral 20, RBI seal, Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait, RBI legend, guarantee and promise clause, the governor’s signature and Ashoka Pillar emblem which were hitherto printed in intaglio (raised printing) are now being printed in offset (without any raised printing),” the central bank said.
The new series of the 20 Rs. note will have these change:
- Ascending font
The numrals in the both number panels will be in ascending size.
- Latent Image
The latent image in the right side of Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait showing the denominational numrals “20” , which was visible only once held hotizontally. This feature is no longer present.
